One Good Guy

This is our friend, Pork McElhinny. He and his wife, Cathy and son, Ryan moved to Nashville last November. We stayed with them while we were there. He is paying his dues at the honky tonks in Nashville. The first picture is at a place called the Wheel where he plays solo, the next two is at a place called Rippy's, where he plays with a guy named Paul. The last is at Rippy's but they are a trio. Rippy's is right across the street from the Somet Center where the CMA's were held this year...but no didn't see anyone. On Thursday, Pork played the Wheel and then went a played a Rippy's with Paul. Friday he played a double at Rippy's, first with Paul and then with the a band. He is working really hard at breaking into the business. A couple big name people have songs that he has written so maybe you will hear some on the radio soon and see Pork get an award for song writer of the year.

Cathy works at the Grand Ole Opry Hotel. That place is HUGE!!! They just recently bought a house in Greenbrier, there's a cool story behind that, ask me sometime and I'll let ya know. She loves horses too so they have a beautiful home with a barn for the horses.

For Mom

Jim and I went to Nashville this past week....it was a birthday present to myself. My mom was a big Ernest Tubb fan so I had to get this picture for her. The bottom picture is the same sign just at night...obviously. All the honky tonks...they aren't called bars down there..they are honky tonks. Anyway, they all have live music, whether it is just a single person or a band, you can go in and have a couple drinks and hear some really good music. The players get paid very little by the honky tonk to play, just $20.00 in some cases, so they mostly play for tips.

Olivia's 6th Birthday

Saturday was Olivia's birthday. Becky had the grandparents in for cake and ice cream. Mom and Dad tried to play trick on her by putting candles on the cake that don't blow out. She fooled them.....they stayed out. She made out pretty good in the gift department. Will's birthday is on the 29th so his turn is coming.

Little Big League Players

This is Olivia's t-ball team from the tournament on Saturday. She is on the far left. They played hard and had a good time and received medals, so she was happy with that. They didn't "win the day" as she described it, but they had fun and that is all that matters.

Prom Night

Ok everyone get ready to feel old. This is Alison, Kelly's daughter, and her date for the prom. They went on the Gateway Clipper and had a fabulous time. Kelly said that Alison changed her hair color from a blonde to the dark brown to look like her aunt Cindy, which is something she likes to do. Not a bad person to want to be either. These kids are growing up too fast. Oh no! I sound like my mother!!!!

It's that time of year again and this is the latest graduate in the family. Emileigh Ann Forrest will graduate Friday, June 1. Not sure what her plans are as far as career, but I know she will be great at whatever she chooses. Kaye, Keith and Emileigh are now living in Taylors, South Carolina. Congratulations and best wishes to Emileigh!!!!

New Kids on the Block

Mother Dove left to have lunch with the girls so we thought we would have a look. It won't be long that they will be leaving the nest like all kids do. One was camera shy and turned away. Mom is staying away for longer periods of time now, I think she might be working at Sheetz.

Here and Gone

We had the big pine tree in the backyard taken down today. These guys really worked quick. They had everything done in an hour and a half. The yard seems so big now and there is much more light in the kitchen....I may have to buy curtains!!! I'm sure there are a lot of birds looking for their nests tonight.

New Neighbors

Had some new neighbors move in last week. Actually they are on our back porch. A family of doves decided that my sleeping angle would be a good place to live. Jim says that they wanted their nest to be blessed. There are two eggs in the nest. They are excellent neighbors....so far. Not noisey and they stay at home. There is usually only one parent there at a time. One must work days and the other nights.... a lot like me and Jim.
